How long can I soak clothes in the washer?

Pre-soak your clothes before washing. You can soak clothes directly in the chamber of your washing machine if you plan to machine wash them afterward. All you need to do is add detergent to the water drawn into the washing machine, then let the clothes soak for 20-30 minutes in the mix of detergent and standing water.

Herein, is it safe to wash clothes after using bleach?

Thanks for sending in your question–it's such a good one. As long as your clothes washer is functioning properly and you add the bleach during the wash cycle (not the rinse cycle!) you should be able to wash any type of load you like following a bleach load without running an empty cycle first.

How long does it take to wash your clothes?

Typically, a wash takes between 32 and 38 minutes. Some washers allow you to purchase an extra long wash and/or an extra rinse which could increase your time. Alternatively, these same washers also permit a quick wash which reduces the time under 30 minutes. Drying time is usually between 30 and 45 minutes.

Do you put laundry detergent in first?

In a top-loading machine, dirty laundry should be the last thing you add to the washer, not the first. And by pouring detergent directly onto the wad of clothes as the water fills, you're taking a big risk that the soap will not dissolve.
